Teen Pregnancy in America

Although the teenage pregnancy rate in America is declining, down 36% since 1990, the United States still has the highest teenage pregnancy rate of all developed countries, twice as much as England and Canada and eight times that of the Netherlands and Japan.

Despite our schools' sexual education programs and the ever-growing accessibility of birth control, many of America's teens are still engaging in risky, unprotected sexual behaviors.

Every year, approximately 750,000 adolescent girls ages 15-19 become pregnant (82% are unplanned).
